BLINDS | DRAPES | SHADES | SHUTTERS
Blinds: The word blinds has become a household word. The term refers to all
window treatments, which raise and lower. Additionally many of the blinds tilt
up and down allowing you to control the light control. Blinds installed independent
of fabric is typically used in settings where a sleeker, cool look is desired.
I encourage homeowners to use these blinds independently only if the windows
shape is interesting, molding adds architectural character or a true minimal
look is best suited for the style of the room.
Special Options: Top down bottom up treatments are available as an option
with many blinds. The greatest benefit for the homeowner with this type of system
is the ability to have your light and view while keeping the lower portion of
the window closed for privacy.
2000's resurgence of woven wood shades has given us another style option for
those windows where fabric isn't appropriate. Styles range from classic bamboo
slats to the most elaborate of hand woven, intertwined grass cloths. Each of
these blind choices have a hundred different configurations. Blind with trim,
blinds with custom valences, blinds with draperies –you've got the idea!
You will find extra details in the blinds can also have a huge impact on
the window treatment. The use of colored tape either to complement the blind
or to contrast raises the bar on the windows finished appearance. Also, one of
my favorite additions to the standard ordered blind is to dress the valence.
Valences for blinds can be created out of crown molding, wooden decorative trim,
fabric, or even bamboo. |
